The highly anticipated 1st Human Resource Management International Conference (HRMIC), a collaborative effort between Moi University and South Africa’s University of Venda, officially commenced on June 2nd at Boma Inn Hotel, Eldoret-Kenya.

This landmark event marks a significant stride in advancing global HR discourse, bringing together experts and professionals from across Africa and beyond. Themed: “Innovative Human Resource Strategies for Workforce Resilience and Sustainable Development,” the conference opened with a powerful ceremony presided over by Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Moi University. In his remarks, Prof. Kotut emphasized the critical role of academic and institutional partnerships in redefining workforce strategies for the modern era.

A major highlight of the day was the signing of Intent to Collaborate between Moi University and the University of Venda, signaling the beginning of joint research, innovation and knowledge-sharing initiatives in the HRM field.

The conference’s insightful keynote addresses captivated attendees, focusing on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in Modern HR Practices. Esteemed speakers included Prof. Elaine Farndale, Professor of HRM and Director, Center for International HR Studies, USA, and Dr. Bex Hewett, Senior Lecturer in HRM and Organizational Behaviour, UK. Further enriching the discussions were contributions from respected Certified Human Resource Professionals. CHRP Quaresha Mohammed and CHRP Dr. Chris Yego shared invaluable perspectives on impactful topics such as employee well-being and mental health in the modern workplace, emerging issues in HRM including digital disruption and talent mobility, and real-world finance cases highlighting the intersection of HR strategy and financial performance.

The day’s proceedings successfully set a dynamic tone for impactful learning, networking, and the fostering of global HR innovation. The conference continues until June 6, 2025, welcoming participants from academia, government, and industry to engage in critical discussions shaping the future of human resources.
